FAQs
What is the minimum age to rent from you?
We try to work with clients who are twenty-five years and older due to our insurance coverage restrictions. Nevertheless, based upon your needs, whenever we can, we try to be flexible.
If you are below 25 years, try checking in with your insurance provider to determine if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Are your rooftop tents family friendly?
Yes! Please note that with our rooftop campers you will need to climb a little ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we also offer an extra tent with all of our packages which you can easily put up on the ground. This could be more comfortable for you and your children.
What is the max. capacity of your camper vehicles?
We are able to accommodate three people at most, although in case there are more within your group, we do provide an additional tent, as well. With this, we are able to allow for about five people. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Yes, we offer surfboards & boogie boards and fins upon request for a small fee. Simply let us know in advance if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guide or even a map with the greatest areas to visit on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to visit & camp out on Kauai.
Top Spots For Camping Outdoors On Kauai & Information Regarding Camping Permits
Am I able to visit any beach front to camp?
You may go to any beach, but you can only put up your camp in designated camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the usual practice. We will give you a list of the best places to visit and also to go camping. Please note that driving on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or are we just able to visit official camping sites? If so, how much is the cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed in Kauai. You may only go camping in designated locations with a current camping permit. The associated fee is around $3 per night in most Kauai county campgrounds, though private campgrounds may be a bit more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you have total access to facilities, including showers, washrooms and picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you opt to camp on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It’s a good idea to organize your Kauai camping permits prior to your arrival. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may secure your licenses on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you choose to camp at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you can obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents need to pay three dollars per night beforehand. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are money orders and cashier’s checks. But you don’t have to book your camping licenses before your planned arrival. You could also obtain them at the various permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
How long does it take to get the camping permits?
No matter whether you decide to stay at a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to stay at a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite a while to get your permits. Permits can be bought at the permit offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are issued on-the-spot.
