Is there an age requirement to rent from you?

We try to do business with clients who are actually 25 years and above because of our insurance coverage restrictions. Nevertheless, depending on your needs, whenever possible, we strive to be accommodating.

In case you are younger than 25 years, consider contacting your insurance provider to determine if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.

Could you accommodate families with kids?

Yes! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb up a little ladder. If this is a problem, we offer an extra camping tent with each of our packages which you can put up on the ground. This may be more convenient for you and your little ones.

How many people can your camping vehicles fit?

The camping vehicles fit three people maximum, although if there are more within your party, we do have an extra camping tent, as well. With this, we are able to accommodate about 5 individuals. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.

What about surfboards?

Yes, we provide both surfboards and boogie boards and fins on request for a small fee. Just tell us beforehand if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.

Do we receive a guide book or a map with the greatest beaches and hiking trails to check out on Kauai?

Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to visit and camp out on Kauai.

Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ

Am I able to go to any beach front to camp?

You can go to any beach, however, you should only set up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We’ll supply you with a list of the top places to visit and to camp in. Please note that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.

Is “wild camping” permitted or can we only visit official camping grounds? If so, how much is the fee?

No, wild camping isn’t permitted on the island of Kauai. You may only go camping in official locations with a current camping permit. The associated fee is approximately $3 per night stay in the majority of Kauai county parks, but private camping grounds could be a little more. One particular advantage of these camping grounds is that you have total access to amenities, such as showers, bathrooms & picnic tables. Please be aware that if you decide to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

• Kumu Camp: Anahola Beach Retreat (camping without a permit but reservation is required): 4275 Poha Rd, Anahola, HI 96703
• Camp Nau’e YMCA (camping without a permit but reservation is required): 7420 Kuhio Hwy, Hanalei, Kauai, HI 96714

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?

It is a good idea to get your Kauai camping license prior to your arrival. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may get your licenses online and also in person in the respective office.

If you decide to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may obtain permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.

Non-residents must pay 3 dollars per night up-front. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are bank checks and also money orders. However, it’s not absolutely necessary to reserve your camping licenses prior to your planned arrival. You can also obtain them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.

How long will it take to get the camping permits?
