FAQs
What’s the minimum age to rent from you?
We try to work with customers who are 25 years and older because of our insurance coverage restrictions. However, based upon your circumstances, whenever we can, we try to be flexible.
In case you are below 25 years, consider contacting your insurance provider to find out if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Would you be able to accommodate adults with children?
Certainly! Please note that with our rooftop campers you will need to climb up a little ladder. If this is an issue, we provide an additional tent with every package which you can put up on the ground beside your camping truck. This could be more suitable for you as well as your little ones.
What is the maximum capacity of your camping vehicles?
The roof top tent camping trucks sleep three individuals at most, although in case there are more within your group, we do provide an additional tent, as well. With this, we are able to fit as much as five individuals. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Absolutely yes, our company offers surfboards & boogie boards and also fins upon request for a fee. Just let us know up-front if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a travel guide or perhaps a map with the greatest locations to explore on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to visit and camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I visit any beach for camping?
You can go to any beach, however, you can only set up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the usual procedure. We’ll provide you with a list of the ideal locations to visit and to camp in. Please remember that driving on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or can we only go to official camping grounds? If so, how much is the charge?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed in Kauai. You can only go camping in designated locations with a current camping permit. The charge is around $3 per night in most Kauai county parks, though private campsites could be a little more. One particular advantage of these campsites is that you will have full access to amenities, such as showers, bathrooms & picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you opt to camp on the county camp sites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It’s a good idea to organize your Kauai camping permits prior to your arrival. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may get your permits online and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you opt to camp at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Up-front, the costs are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are cashier’s checks and also money orders. However, it’s not absolutely necessary to book your camping permits before your arrival. You can also get them at the various permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
No matter whether you choose to camp at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to stay at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to get your permits. You may choose to obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on the island; in-person you will receive them on the spot.
