Here are Some Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We would rather like to do business with customers who are 25 years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. On the other hand, based on your needs, whenever possible, we strive to be flexible.
In case you are younger than twenty-five, try checking in with your insurer to find out whether you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Could you accommodate families with children?
Of course! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb one small ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we provide an additional camping tent with all of our packages which you may put up on the ground. This could be more suitable for you and your little ones.
How many individuals can your camper vehicles accommodate?
We could fit 3 individuals maximum, though if there are more in your group, we do offer an extra tent, as well. With this, we can easily accommodate about five individuals. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Yes, we offer surfboards and boogie boards and fins upon request for a small fee. Just inform us in advance if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a travel guide or even a map with the best hiking trails & beaches to explore on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to check out and go camping on Kauai.
Perfect Places For Camping Out On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I go to any beach to camp?
You may go to any beach, nevertheless, you can only set up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the typical practice here on Kauai. We will provide you with a list of the best locations to visit and to go camping. Please note that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or can we just go to designated camping sites? If so, what is the charge?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed in Kauai. You can only go camping in official locations with a valid camping permit. The charge is approximately $3 per night in most Kauai county parks, though private campsites may be a little more. One particular advantage of these campgrounds is that you have full access to amenities, like showers, restrooms and picnic kitchen tables. Please be aware that if you decide to go camping on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a better to organize your Kauai camping license before your journey. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your licenses online and also in person in the respective office.
If you choose to stay at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you can ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
In advance, the fees are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, you don’t have to reserve your camping permits before your arrival. You could also obtain them at the different permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
How long does it take to get the camping permits?
Whether you choose to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to camp at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to get your permits. Permits can be obtained at the permit offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are issued right away.
