Below are Some Commonly Asked Questions
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
We prefer to work with clients who are 25 years and above due to our insurance coverage restrictions. Nevertheless, depending on your circumstances, whenever possible, we always try to be accommodating.
If you are below 25 years, consider contacting your insurance company to find out if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Are your roof top tent campers kids friendly?
Certainly! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop campers you would need to climb up a small ladder. If this is an issue, we provide an additional tent with each of our packages which you may put up on the ground beside your camper vehicle. This may be more comfortable for you as well as your kids.
What is the max. capacity of your vehicles?
Our camping vehicles fit three people maximum, although if there are more within your party, we do offer an additional camping tent, as well. With this, we are able to accommodate up to five people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Can you provide surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we offer surfboards and boogie boards and fins upon request for a fee. Simply inform us beforehand if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a travel guide or a map with the greatest hiking trails and beaches to check out on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to see and go camping on Kauai.
Perfect Places For Camping On Kauai & Details About Camping Permits
Can I go to any beach to camp?
You can drive up to any beach, but you should only set up your camp in designated camping grounds. This is the typical practice here on Kauai. We will provide you with a list of the best places to check out and to go camping. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or can we only go to designated camping sites? If so, what is the fee?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed on the island of Kauai. You should only go camping in specified areas with a valid camping permit. The fee is roughly $3 per night in many Kauai county parks, though private camp sites could be a bit more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you will have complete access to facilities, such as showers, bathrooms & picnic dining tables. Please remember that if you decide to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.
What campgrounds do you recommend with the rooftop camping tent?
- Kōkeʻe State Park (need camping permit): Kokee Rd, Hwy 550, Kekaha, HI 96752

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is definitely a good idea to organize your Kauai camping license before your trip. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can secure your licenses online and also in person in the respective office.
If you opt to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
In advance, the fees are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this application are cashier’s checks as well as money orders. Nevertheless, it is not necessary to book your camping licenses before your planned arrival. You may also get them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
How long will it take to get the camping permits?
No matter if you choose to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to camp at a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite a while to get your permits. You may opt to get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the designated permit offices on the island; in-person you will receive them right away.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
