Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?

We would rather like to work with customers who are twenty-five years and older due to our insurance coverage restrictions. However, depending on your circumstances, whenever we can, we always strive to be accommodating.

If you are younger than 25 years, consider checking in with your insurance company to find out whether you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.

Would you be able to accommodate adults with kids?

Absolutely! Please note that using our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb one small ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we offer an extra tent with each package which you could set up on the ground next to the camper vehicle. This can be much more comfortable for you and also your young children.

What is the maximum capacity of your vehicles?

The camping trucks sleep three individuals maximum, although if there are more within your group, we do offer an extra tent, as well. With this, we are able to fit up to five people. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.

What about surfboards?

Certainly, our company offers both surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins on request for a small fee. Simply tell us in advance if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.

Do we get a guidebook or a map with the greatest hiking trails and beaches to visit on Kauai?

Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to check out and camp out on Kauai.

Top Locations For Camping On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ

Am I able to visit any beach for camping?

You may go to any beach, nevertheless, you should only set up your camp in official camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We will give you a list of the top locations to explore and to go camping. Please remember that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.

Are we permitted to camp in the wild or are we only able to go to official camping grounds? If so, how much does it cost?

No, wild camping is not permitted on the island of Kauai. You should only go camping in specific areas with secured camping permits. The associated fee is about $3 per night in the majority of Kauai county parks, but private camp sites may be a little more. One particular advantage of these camping grounds is that you have complete access to amenities, such as showers, restrooms & picnic tables. Please be aware that if you choose to camp on the county campsites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Could you recommend any Kauai camping sites where we can set up the roof top tent?

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?

It is a good idea to organize your Kauai camping permits before your journey. For the majority of private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can get your licenses on the internet and also in person in the respective office.

If you choose to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you can obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.

Non-residents have to pay three dollars per night beforehand. Payment methods accepted with this application are bank checks and also money orders. However, you don’t necessarily have to reserve your camping licenses before your planned arrival. You may also get them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.

How long will it take to obtain the camping permits?

If you decide to camp at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite a while to obtain your permits. Permits can be bought at the permit offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are given immediately.

TESTIMONIALS

Our Happy Clients!

Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.

Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.

We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
