FAQs
Is there a minimum age to rent from you?
We would rather like to do business with customers who are twenty-five years and older because of our insurance coverage restrictions. But, based on your needs, whenever possible, we strive to be accommodating.
If you are below 25 years, try contacting your insurer to find out if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Are your rooftop tents family friendly?
Indeed! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb one small ladder. If this sounds like a problem, we also offer an additional camping tent with each package which you could put up on the ground. This could be much more comfortable for you and your kids.
How many individuals can your camping vehicles fit?
We are able to accommodate 3 people maximum, though if there are more within your group, we do have an additional tent, too. With this, we are able to accommodate up to 5 individuals. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Do you provide surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we offer both surfboards and boogie boards and also fins upon request for a small fee. Simply tell us beforehand if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guide or a map with the greatest areas to explore on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to check out and go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to head to any beach front to camp?
You may go to any beach, however, you can only set up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the usual procedure. We will provide you with a list of the greatest locations to check out and to go camping. Please be aware that driving on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or can we just visit designated camping sites? If so, how much is the charge?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed on the island of Kauai. You should only camp in official locations with a valid camping permit. The charge is approximately $3 per night in many Kauai county campgrounds, but private camping grounds may be a little more. One advantage of these camping grounds is that you will have complete access to amenities, like washrooms, showers & picnic tables. Please be aware that if you opt to camp on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.
What camping grounds do you suggest with the rooftop tent?

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It’s a good idea to get your Kauai camping permits prior to your journey. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can get your licenses online and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you choose to camp at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you may obtain permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
In advance, the fees are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders and cashier’s checks. However, you don’t necessarily have to reserve your camping licenses before your arrival. You could also obtain them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
How long does it take to get the camping permits?
No matter whether you decide to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to go to a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite a while to get your permits. You might obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on the island; in-person you will get them right away.
