Frequently Asked Questions
What is the minimum age for renting from you?
We would rather like to work with customers who are actually 25 years and older due to our insurance coverage restrictions. But, based on your needs, whenever possible, we strive to be accommodating.
If you are younger than 25 years, try contacting your insurance provider to find out if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Could you accommodate families with kids?
Indeed! Please note that using our rooftop campers you would need to climb a little ladder. If this is a problem, we provide an additional camping tent with each package which you could set up on the ground. This may be more convenient for both you and your young children.
What is the maximum capacity of your vehicles?
Our camping trucks sleep 3 people at most, though in case there are more within your party, we do provide an extra tent, as well. With this, we can easily accommodate up to 5 people. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we offer both surfboards and boogie boards as well as fins upon request for a fee. Simply let us know beforehand if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guide or even a map with the best beaches & hiking trails to explore on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to check out and go camping on Kauai.
Greatest Places For Camping Out On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to go to any beach front to camp?
You could go to any beach, nevertheless, you should only set up your camp in designated camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the usual procedure. We’ll supply you with a list of the best locations to check out and to camp in. Please be aware that driving on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we just able to visit designated camping sites? If so, what is the charge?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed on the island of Kauai. You may only go camping in official areas with a current camping permit. The fee is approximately $3 per night stay in most Kauai county parks, though private camping grounds may be a bit more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you have total access to amenities, including bathrooms, showers & picnic kitchen tables. Please keep in mind that if you opt to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a good idea to organize your Kauai camping license prior to your arrival. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may secure your permits on the internet and also in person in the respective office.
If you choose to stay at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you can ask for permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents need to pay three dollars per night in advance. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are money orders and cashier’s checks. However, it isn’t absolutely necessary to reserve your camping licenses prior to your arrival. You may also get them at the different permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
How long will it take to obtain the camping permits?
Whether you decide to stay at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite a while to receive your permits. Permits can be bought at the permit offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are issued on-the-spot.
