Below are Some Commonly Asked Questions

Is there an age requirement to rent from you?

We would rather like to do business with clients who are actually 25 years and above because of our insurance policy restrictions. Having said that, depending on your circumstances, whenever possible, we try to be flexible.

In case you are younger than twenty-five, try checking with your insurance company to find out whether you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.

Can you accommodate adults with kids?

Of course! Please note that with our rooftop campers you would need to climb a small ladder. If this is a problem, we provide an extra camping tent with each package which you can set up on the ground. This could be much more comfortable for you and also your little ones.

What is the maximum capacity of your camper vehicles?

We can accommodate three individuals at most, although in case there are more within your party, we do have an extra tent, as well. With this, we can easily allow for as much as 5 individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.

Can you provide surfboards?

Yes, we offer surfboards & boogie boards and also fins upon request for a small fee. Simply let us know beforehand if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.

Do we get a guide or a map with the greatest places to visit on Kauai?

Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to see & camp out on Kauai.

Kauai Camping Guide & Specifics About Camping Permits

Can I visit any beach front for camping?

You could drive up to any beach, however, you can only put up your camp in designated camping grounds. This is the typical practice here on Kauai. We will provide you with a list of the ideal locations to visit and to go camping. Please remember that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.

Are we permitted to camp in the wild or are we only able to go to official camping sites? If so, how much will it cost?

No, wild camping isn’t permitted in Kauai. You can only go camping in specific locations with a valid camping permit. The charge is approximately $3 per night stay in many Kauai county campgrounds, but private camping grounds could be a bit more. One advantage of these camping grounds is that you have complete access to amenities, such as showers, washrooms and picnic kitchen tables. Please be aware that if you decide to go camping on the county campsites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Can you recommend any Kauai camp sites where we can set up the roof top tent?

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?

It is definitely a better to get your Kauai camping permits before your journey. For most private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your permits online and also in person in the respective office.

If you decide to camp at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you can request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.

Non-residents have to pay three dollars per night beforehand. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are money orders & cashier’s checks. However, you don’t have to reserve your camping permits prior to your arrival. You could also obtain them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.

How much time will it take to obtain the camping permits?

No matter if you choose to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to stay at a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite some time to receive your permits. You might receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the designated permit offices on the island; in-person you will receive them immediately.

TESTIMONIALS

Our Happy Clients!

Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.

Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.

We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
