FAQs
What’s the minimum age for renting from you?
We would rather like to work with customers who are twenty-five years and above because of our insurance coverage restrictions. But, based upon your needs, whenever we can, we try to be flexible.
If you are below 25 years, try checking with your insurance company to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Are your roof top tents kids friendly?
Certainly! Please note that with our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb a small ladder. If this sounds like a concern, we offer an additional tent with each package which you may put up on the ground. This may be more comfortable for you and your kids.
What is the max. capacity of your trucks?
Our roof top tent camper vehicles fit three individuals at most, although if there are more in your group, we do offer an extra camping tent, too. With this, we can easily allow for up to five individuals. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
Are you able to provide surfboards?
Certainly, we provide both surfboards and boogie boards as well as fins upon request for a fee. Simply let us know in advance if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a guide or perhaps a map with the greatest beaches & hiking trails to explore on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to see & go camping on Kauai.
Ideal Locations For Camping On Kauai & Details About Camping Permits
Am I able to go to any beach for camping?
You could drive up to any beach, however, you should only put up your camp in official camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the usual procedure. We will provide you with a list of the ideal locations to visit and also to go camping. Please remember that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or can we only go to official camping grounds? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed in Kauai. You can only camp in specified areas with a valid camping permit. The fee is roughly $3 per night in many Kauai county parks, but private camp sites may be a bit more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you will have full access to amenities, such as restrooms, showers and picnic tables. Please remember that if you decide to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is definitely a good idea to obtain your Kauai camping license prior to your journey. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you opt to stay at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you may ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
In advance, the fees are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are money orders and cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, you don’t necessarily have to reserve your camping permits prior to your planned arrival. You may also get them at the different permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
How long does it take to obtain the camping permits?
If you decide to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite a while to receive your permits. Permits can be obtained at the permit offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are given on the spot.
