Commonly Asked Questions

Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?

We prefer to work with clients who are actually 25 years and above because of our insurance policy restrictions. Having said that, depending on your circumstances, whenever possible, we strive to be flexible.

In case you are younger than twenty-five, try checking in with your insurance provider to find out whether you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.

Are your rooftop tents family friendly?

Of course! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb a little ladder. If this is a problem, we also provide an additional camping tent with each of our packages which you can easily set up on the ground. This may be more convenient for both you and also your young children.

How many individuals can your camper vehicles fit?

The roof top tent camping vehicles sleep 3 people maximum, although in case there are more in your group, we do provide an additional tent, as well. With this, we can easily fit up to 5 people. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.

Are you able to provide surfboards?

Yes, we provide both surfboards & boogie boards and fins on request for a fee. Simply let us know up-front if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.

Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to visit and camp out on Kauai.

Finest Spots For Camping Outdoors On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ

Am I able to visit any beach front for camping?

You could go to any beach, however, you should only put up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the usual procedure. We’ll provide you with a list of the greatest locations to explore and also to go camping. Please note that driving on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.

Are we permitted to camp in the wild or can we only visit designated camping grounds? If so, what is the charge?

No, wild camping isn’t allowed on the island of Kauai. You can only camp in specific areas with a current camping permit. The fee is roughly $3 per night stay in the majority of Kauai county parks, but private camping grounds may be a bit more. The good thing about these campsites is that you will have complete access to amenities, including showers, washrooms and picnic kitchen tables. Please keep in mind that if you decide to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?

It is a better to obtain your Kauai camping permits prior to your arrival. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can secure your licenses on the internet and also in person in the respective office.

If you opt to stay at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you can obtain permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.

Up-front, the charges are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are bank checks and also money orders. But you don’t necessarily have to book your camping permits prior to your planned arrival. You could also obtain them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.

How much time does it take to obtain the camping permits?

Whether you decide to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to camp at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite a while to receive your permits. Permits can be obtained at the license offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are issued immediately.

TESTIMONIALS

Our Happy Clients!

Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.

Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.

We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
