Commonly Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We prefer to do business with clients who are twenty-five years and above because of our insurance policy restrictions. But, based on your circumstances, whenever possible, we try to be flexible.
If you are below twenty-five, try checking in with your insurance provider to find out whether you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Can you accommodate families with children?
Absolutely! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb a small ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we also offer an extra camping tent with each package which you may set up on the ground. This can be more suitable for you and also your young children.
What is the maximum capacity of your trucks?
We are able to accommodate 3 people at most, though in case there are more in your group, we do offer an additional tent, as well. With this, we can easily allow for up to five individuals. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Yes, we provide both surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins upon request for a small fee. Simply tell us beforehand if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a travel guide or perhaps a map with the greatest hiking trails and beaches to check out on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to check out and camp out on Kauai.
Ideal Places For Camping Out On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I visit any beach to camp?
You may drive up to any beach, but you can only put up your camp in designated camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We will provide you with a list of the greatest places to check out and to go camping. Please remember that driving on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or are we only able to visit designated camping grounds? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping is not permitted on the island of Kauai. You can only go camping in official locations with a valid camping permit. The associated fee is around $3 per night stay in most Kauai county parks, but private campgrounds could be a bit more. One advantage of these campgrounds is that you have full access to amenities, such as restrooms, showers & picnic dining tables. Please keep in mind that if you choose to go camping on the county campsites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is a good idea to organize your Kauai camping permits prior to your journey. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits on the internet and also in person in the respective office.
If you opt to camp at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may request permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
In advance, the charges are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this application are bank checks and money orders. Nevertheless, you don’t necessarily have to reserve your camping permits before your arrival. You could also get them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
How long does it take to get the camping permits?
If you choose to stay at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to go to a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite a while to get your permits. You may opt to receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on the island; in-person you will receive them on the spot.
