Below are Some Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We prefer to do business with clients who are 25 years and above due to our insurance coverage restrictions. Having said that, based upon your situation, whenever we can, we try to be flexible.
In case you are below 25 years, consider checking in with your insurance company to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Are your roof top tent campers kids friendly?
Yes! Please note that using our rooftop campers you will need to climb up a small ladder. If this is a problem, we provide an extra tent with each package which you can put up on the ground. This can be more suitable for both you and your little ones.
What is the maximum capacity of your trucks?
We can fit 3 people maximum, although if there are more in your group, we do have an extra camping tent, as well. With this, we can easily allow for up to 5 people. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we offer surfboards & boogie boards and also fins on request for a small fee. Just inform us beforehand if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a guidebook or a map with the nicest areas to check out on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to see and go camping on Kauai.
Finest Places For Camping Out On Kauai & Details About Camping Permits
Am I able to go to any beach for camping?
You could go to any beach, but you should only set up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We’ll give you a list of the greatest places to visit and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or are we only able to go to designated camping grounds? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed in Kauai. You can only go camping in specific locations with secured camping permits. The fee is approximately $3 per night in most Kauai county campgrounds, but private camp sites may be a little more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you have full access to facilities, including showers, restrooms and picnic dining tables. Please remember that if you opt to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.
What campgrounds do you suggest with the rooftop camping tent?
- Kōkeʻe State Park (need camping permit): Kokee Rd, Hwy 550, Kekaha, HI 96752

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is definitely a better to get your Kauai camping license prior to your trip. For the majority of private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you may get your licenses on the internet and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you opt to camp at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you may request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
In advance, the fees are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this application are money orders and cashier’s checks. But you don’t have to reserve your camping licenses prior to your arrival. You could also get them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
How long does it take to obtain the camping permits?
If you choose to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite a while to receive your permits. You might choose to obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them on the spot.
