Below are Some Commonly Asked Questions
Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?
We try to do business with customers who are 25 years and older because of our insurance coverage restrictions. On the other hand, depending on your needs, whenever we can, we always strive to be flexible.
In case you are below twenty-five, consider checking with your insurance provider to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Are your roof top tents family friendly?
Indeed! Please note that with our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb one small ladder. If this sounds like a concern, we also provide an extra tent with all of our packages which you can put up on the ground. This could be more comfortable for you as well as your children.
How many people can your camper vehicles fit?
The roof top tent camper trucks fit 3 people at most, though if there are more within your group, we do offer an extra tent, as well. With this, we can easily accommodate up to 5 people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Certainly, we provide both surfboards and boogie boards as well as fins upon request for a fee. Simply tell us up-front if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guidebook or a map with the best beaches and hiking trails to visit on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to visit and go camping on Kauai.
Perfect Spots For Camping On Kauai & Specifics About Camping Permits
Am I able to visit any beach front for camping?
You could drive up to any beach, but you should only put up your camp in designated camping sites. This is the typical practice here on Kauai. We’ll provide you with a list of the best places to check out and to go camping. Please remember that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or can we just visit designated camping grounds? If so, what is the charge?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You may only go camping in specified areas with a valid camping permit. The associated fee is about $3 per night in most Kauai county parks, but private camping grounds may be a little more. One advantage of these campsites is that you have complete access to facilities, like showers, restrooms & picnic dining tables. Please keep in mind that if you choose to camp on the county camp sites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.
Can you suggest any Kauai camping sites where I can set up the roof top tent?

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is definitely a good idea to organize your Kauai camping license prior to your journey. For most private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may get your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you choose to camp at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you can ask for permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Up-front, the costs are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. But it isn’t absolutely necessary to reserve your camping permits before your planned arrival. You can also obtain them at the different permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
How much time does it take to get the camping permits?
Whether you decide to camp at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to camp at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite some time to get your permits. You might get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them on the spot.
