Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?
We would rather like to work with customers who are actually twenty-five years and older due to our insurance coverage restrictions. But, depending on your needs, whenever we can, we try to be flexible.
If you are younger than 25 years, consider checking in with your insurer to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Are your roof top tent camping trucks family friendly?
Of course! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb up a little ladder. If this sounds like a problem, we offer an additional camping tent with each package which you could set up on the ground beside the camper truck. This can be more convenient for you and also your kids.
What is the max. capacity of your vehicles?
Our camping vehicles fit 3 people maximum, although if there are more within your party, we do have an additional tent, as well. With this, we are able to accommodate as much as five individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Certainly, we provide both surfboards & boogie boards and also fins on request for a fee. Just inform us beforehand if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a guidebook or even a map with the nicest places to visit on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to visit & camp out on Kauai.
Greatest Places For Camping Outdoors On Kauai & Information Regarding Camping Permits
Am I able to visit any beach front to camp?
You could drive up to any beach, nevertheless, you should only put up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the usual practice. We’ll provide you with a list of the top places to visit and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or can we just go to designated camping sites? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed on the island of Kauai. You can only go camping in designated areas with a current camping permit. The associated fee is approximately $3 per night stay in the majority of Kauai county campgrounds, but private camping grounds may be a little more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you will have full access to facilities, such as washrooms, showers and picnic tables. Please be aware that if you decide to go camping on the county campsites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a better to organize your Kauai camping permits prior to your arrival. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your licenses online and also in person in the respective office.
If you choose to camp at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you can ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents need to pay three dollars per night beforehand. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders and cashier’s checks. But you don’t necessarily have to reserve your camping permits before your arrival. You could also get them at the different permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
How long does it take to get the camping permits?
No matter if you choose to camp at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite a while to obtain your permits. Permits can be bought at the license offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are issued on-the-spot.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time
Los Angeles, CA
Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
