Below are Some Commonly Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We prefer to work with customers who are actually 25 years and older because of our insurance coverage restrictions. Nevertheless, depending on your situation, whenever possible, we strive to be flexible.
If you are younger than 25 years, consider checking in with your insurer to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Could you accommodate families who have children?
Certainly! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb one small ladder. If this is a problem, we provide an extra tent with all of our packages which you can easily set up on the ground. This could be much more comfortable for both you and also your young ones.
How many individuals can your camper vehicles accommodate?
We could fit 3 individuals maximum, though in case there are more in your party, we do offer an additional camping tent, too. With this, we can easily accommodate as much as 5 individuals. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Absolutely yes, our company offers both surfboards & boogie boards and also fins on request for a small fee. Simply tell us beforehand if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a travel guide or a map with the nicest hiking trails and beaches to check out on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to visit & go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to head to any beach front to camp?
You could drive up to any beach, however, you should only set up your camp in official camping sites. This is the standard practice here on Kauai. We will supply you with a list of the best locations to visit and to camp in. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or are we just able to visit designated camping sites? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t permitted on the island of Kauai. You should only go camping in specified areas with secured camping permits. The fee is roughly $3 per night stay in many Kauai county campgrounds, but private camping grounds could be a bit more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you will have full access to amenities, such as showers, bathrooms and picnic tables. Please note that if you opt to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is a good idea to organize your Kauai camping permits before your arrival. For most private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can get your licenses online and also in person in the respective office.
If you decide to camp at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you may ask for permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents need to pay three dollars per night beforehand. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are cashier’s checks and also money orders. Nevertheless, it is not absolutely necessary to reserve your camping licenses prior to your arrival. You could also get them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
How much time does it take to obtain the camping permits?
No matter if you choose to camp at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to go to a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to get your permits. You may opt to receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the different permit offices on the island; in-person you will get them on the spot.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
