Below are Some Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?
We would rather like to work with customers who are actually 25 years and above because of our insurance coverage restrictions. Having said that, based on your needs, whenever we can, we always strive to be accommodating.
If you are younger than 25 years, try checking with your insurance company to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Could you accommodate families who have children?
Certainly! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop campers you would need to climb up one small ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we offer an additional tent with all of our packages which you can easily put up on the ground beside your camper truck. This can be much more comfortable for you and your little ones.
How many people can your camping trucks fit?
The camping vehicles fit three people at most, although if there are more in your group, we do provide an additional tent, as well. With this, we can easily allow for up to 5 people. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
Do you offer surfboards?
Absolutely yes, our company offers both surfboards and boogie boards and also fins on request for a fee. Just tell us up-front if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a travel guide or a map with the nicest hiking trails & beaches to check out on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to check out & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to head to any beach front to camp?
You can go to any beach, nevertheless, you can only set up your camp in designated camping grounds. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We’ll supply you with a list of the top locations to visit and to go camping. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we only able to visit designated camping sites? If so, what is the cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You should only camp in specific areas with secured camping permits. The associated fee is around $3 per night stay in the majority of Kauai county parks, but private camping grounds may be a little more. One particular advantage of these campsites is that you will have total access to facilities, like bathrooms, showers and picnic kitchen tables. Please keep in mind that if you decide to go camping on the county campsites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is a good idea to organize your Kauai camping permits prior to your trip. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can get your licenses online and also in person in the respective office.
If you decide to camp at a county campground and use a ground tent, you can obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Up-front, the costs are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this application are cashier’s checks and money orders. Nevertheless, it isn’t necessary to book your camping licenses prior to your planned arrival. You can also obtain them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
Whether you choose to stay at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite some time to obtain your permits. You may opt to obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them right away.
