Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We would rather like to work with customers who are 25 years and above due to our insurance coverage restrictions. However, based upon your needs, whenever we can, we always try to be flexible.
If you are younger than twenty-five, try checking with your insurance company to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Can you accommodate families with children?
Yes! Please note that with our rooftop campers you will need to climb one small ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we provide an additional tent with every package which you can easily set up on the ground next to the camper truck. This can be much more comfortable for both you as well as your little ones.
How many individuals can your camping vehicles accommodate?
Our camping vehicles sleep 3 people maximum, though if there are more within your party, we do have an extra tent, too. With this, we can easily fit about 5 individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Do you have surfboards?
Yes, our company offers both surfboards and boogie boards as well as fins on request for a small fee. Simply let us know in advance if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guidebook or a map with the best hiking trails & beaches to explore on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to visit and camp out on Kauai.
Perfect Spots For Camping On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to visit any beach front to camp?
You may go to any beach, nevertheless, you can only set up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the typical practice here on Kauai. We will provide you with a list of the greatest places to check out and to camp in. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or can we just visit official camping grounds? If so, what is the cost?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed on the island of Kauai. You should only go camping in specified areas with secured camping permits. The charge is around $3 per night in many Kauai county parks, though private campgrounds could be a little more. One particular advantage of these campgrounds is that you have full access to amenities, including showers, bathrooms and picnic dining tables. Please remember that if you choose to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is definitely a good idea to organize your Kauai camping permits before your journey. For most private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you may get your permits online and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you choose to camp at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you may request permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Up-front, the charges are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are cashier’s checks as well as money orders. Nevertheless, you don’t necessarily have to reserve your camping licenses before your arrival. You could also obtain them at the various permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
How long will it take to obtain the camping permits?
If you choose to camp at a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to camp at a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite a while to receive your permits. Permits can be obtained at the permit offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are issued right away.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time
Los Angeles, CA
Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
