Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We try to do business with clients who are actually 25 years and above because of our insurance coverage restrictions. Nevertheless, based upon your needs, whenever possible, we always try to be flexible.
In case you are younger than 25 years, try contacting your insurance provider to find out if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Would you be able to accommodate adults who have kids?
Indeed! Please note that using our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb a small ladder. If this is an issue, we also provide an extra camping tent with each of our packages which you may put up on the ground. This can be much more comfortable for you as well as your young ones.
What is the max. capacity of your camping trucks?
Our camping vehicles fit three individuals maximum, although in case there are more in your party, we do have an extra tent, too. With this, we are able to allow for about five people. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we provide both surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins upon request for a fee. Just tell us in advance if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guide book or even a map with the best places to check out on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to check out & camp out on Kauai.
Perfect Spots For Camping On Kauai & Specifics About Camping Permits
Can I visit any beach to camp?
You could go to any beach, however, you can only set up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We’ll provide you with a list of the ideal places to check out and also to go camping. Please note that driving on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or are we just able to go to official camping sites? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping is not permitted on the island of Kauai. You should only go camping in specific areas with secured camping permits. The charge is approximately $3 per night in most Kauai county campgrounds, though private campsites could be a little more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you will have full access to amenities, such as showers, washrooms and picnic kitchen tables. Please be aware that if you decide to go camping on the county campsites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It’s a better to get your Kauai camping license before your arrival. For most private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your permits online and also in person in the designated office.
If you decide to stay at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you can obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
In advance, the charges are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are money orders & cashier’s checks. But you don’t have to book your camping permits prior to your planned arrival. You may also obtain them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
If you decide to camp at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to go to a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite a while to get your permits. You might choose to receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the designated permit offices on the island; in-person you will get them on the spot.
