Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a minimum age to rent from you?
We would rather like to do business with customers who are actually twenty-five years and above because of our insurance coverage restrictions. However, based upon your situation, whenever possible, we strive to be flexible.
In case you are younger than 25 years, try checking with your insurance company to find out if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Can you accommodate families who have kids?
Of course! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb up one small ladder. If this is a concern, we provide an additional tent with every package which you can easily set up on the ground. This could be much more comfortable for both you and your children.
What is the max. capacity of your vehicles?
We are able to fit three individuals at most, though in case there are more within your group, we do have an extra camping tent, too. With this, we can easily accommodate up to five people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Do you have surfboards?
Absolutely yes, our company offers surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins on request for a small fee. Simply inform us in advance if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a guidebook or a map with the greatest hiking trails and beaches to explore on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to visit & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Specifics About Camping Permits
Can I go to any beach to camp?
You may drive up to any beach, but you should only put up your camp in designated camping grounds. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We will provide you with a list of the top locations to check out and also to camp in. Please note that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or can we only go to official camping grounds? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed in Kauai. You should only go camping in specific areas with secured camping permits. The charge is around $3 per night stay in many Kauai county parks, though private campsites may be a little more. One advantage of these campsites is that you will have complete access to amenities, including showers, bathrooms & picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you decide to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is definitely a good idea to obtain your Kauai camping permits before your trip. For the majority of private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you opt to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Up-front, the costs are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, it isn’t necessary to reserve your camping licenses prior to your planned arrival. You can also obtain them at the various permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
If you choose to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite some time to obtain your permits. You might receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the designated permit offices on the island; in-person you will get them immediately.
