Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?
We prefer to work with clients who are actually twenty-five years and above because of our insurance coverage restrictions. But, based on your circumstances, whenever we can, we try to be accommodating.
If you are below twenty-five, consider checking with your insurance company to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Would you be able to accommodate adults with kids?
Certainly! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb a small ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we provide an additional tent with every package which you can easily put up on the ground. This could be more comfortable for you and your little ones.
How many individuals can your camping vehicles accommodate?
We are able to fit 3 individuals at most, though in case there are more within your group, we do offer an additional tent, too. With this, we are able to fit about five people. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we provide surfboards and boogie boards and also fins on request for a small fee. Simply tell us beforehand if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a travel guide or even a map with the best places to visit on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to visit and go camping on Kauai.
Top Spots For Camping Outdoors On Kauai & Information About Camping Permits
Am I able to go to any beach to camp?
You may drive up to any beach, however, you can only put up your camp in official camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the usual practice. We will supply you with a list of the best locations to explore and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we only able to visit designated camping grounds? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping is not permitted in Kauai. You may only camp in designated locations with secured camping permits. The charge is approximately $3 per night in many Kauai county parks, though private campgrounds could be a bit more. One particular advantage of these camping grounds is that you have total access to amenities, including washrooms, showers & picnic tables. Please keep in mind that if you opt to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It is a better to get your Kauai camping license before your trip. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you can get your permits online and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you opt to camp at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you can obtain permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents must pay three dollars per night up-front. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are cashier’s checks and money orders. However, you don’t have to reserve your camping permits prior to your arrival. You may also get them at the various permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
Whether you choose to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite a while to receive your permits. You may choose to obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will receive them right away.
