Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We try to work with clients who are 25 years and above due to our insurance coverage restrictions. But, based upon your circumstances, whenever we can, we always strive to be flexible.
In case you are below twenty-five, consider checking with your insurance provider to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Are your roof top tent camping vehicles family friendly?
Absolutely! Please note that with our rooftop campers you would need to climb up one small ladder. If this sounds like a problem, we offer an additional camping tent with each of our packages which you can easily put up on the ground. This may be more convenient for both you and your children.
What is the max. capacity of your trucks?
The roof top tent camper trucks fit three individuals maximum, though if there are more in your party, we do provide an additional tent, too. With this, we can easily accommodate as much as five individuals. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Yes, our company offers both surfboards and boogie boards and also fins on request for a small fee. Simply tell us in advance if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a guide or perhaps a map with the best places to check out on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to check out and camp out on Kauai.
Finest Spots For Camping On Kauai & Details About Camping Permits
Am I able to go to any beach to camp?
You could go to any beach, however, you can only put up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the standard practice here on Kauai. We’ll give you a list of the ideal locations to explore and also to go camping. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or are we only able to go to designated camping grounds? If so, what is the cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed in Kauai. You should only camp in official areas with secured camping permits. The associated fee is about $3 per night in many Kauai county parks, but private campsites could be a little more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you have complete access to amenities, like showers, bathrooms & picnic dining tables. Please note that if you decide to go camping on the county campsites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a better to obtain your Kauai camping license prior to your journey. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may secure your permits online and also in person in the designated office.
If you opt to stay at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you may request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Up-front, the fees are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are money orders and cashier’s checks. However, you don’t necessarily have to book your camping permits before your planned arrival. You could also obtain them at the various permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
How long will it take to get the camping permits?
If you decide to camp at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to stay at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite some time to obtain your permits. You might choose to obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them on the spot.
