Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the minimum age for renting from you?
We would rather like to work with customers who are actually twenty-five years and above because of our insurance policy restrictions. However, based on your needs, whenever we can, we always try to be accommodating.
If you are younger than twenty-five, consider checking in with your insurer to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Are your rooftop tents family friendly?
Indeed! Please note that using our rooftop campers you would need to climb up a little ladder. If this is an issue, we also provide an additional tent with all of our packages which you may put up on the ground beside your camper vehicle. This may be more comfortable for both you and your little ones.
What is the max. capacity of your trucks?
We could accommodate 3 people at most, though if there are more in your party, we do have an additional tent, as well. With this, we are able to accommodate as much as five individuals. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Do you provide surfboards?
Absolutely yes, our company offers both surfboards & boogie boards and fins on request for a fee. Just inform us in advance if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guidebook or a map with the best places to visit on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to visit & camp out on Kauai.
Best Spots For Camping On Kauai & Specifics About Camping Permits
Can I go to any beach to camp?
You may go to any beach, but you should only put up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the usual procedure. We will supply you with a list of the best places to check out and also to go camping. Please remember that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or can we only go to designated camping grounds? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping is not permitted on the island of Kauai. You may only go camping in official locations with a current camping permit. The charge is around $3 per night in many Kauai county parks, though private campgrounds may be a little more. One advantage of these camping grounds is that you will have full access to amenities, including showers, washrooms and picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you decide to go camping on the county campsites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It’s a good idea to obtain your Kauai camping license before your arrival. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may secure your licenses on the internet and also in person in the respective office.
If you opt to stay at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you may request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents must pay three dollars per night in advance. Payment methods accepted with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, it is not absolutely necessary to reserve your camping permits before your arrival. You may also obtain them at the different permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
No matter if you choose to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to stay at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite some time to obtain your permits. Permits can be bought at the permit offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are issued on-the-spot.
