Commonly Asked Questions
What’s the minimum age for renting from you?
We prefer to do business with clients who are twenty-five years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. Having said that, based upon your situation, whenever we can, we always strive to be accommodating.
In case you are younger than twenty-five, consider contacting your insurer to determine if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Are your rooftop tents kids friendly?
Of course! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb a small ladder. If this is an issue, we offer an extra camping tent with each of our packages which you could set up on the ground. This may be more comfortable for both you and your children.
How many people can your camper vehicles fit?
The camper vehicles fit three individuals maximum, although if there are more in your party, we do offer an additional camping tent, too. With this, we can easily accommodate as much as 5 individuals. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Are you able to provide surfboards?
Certainly, we offer both surfboards and boogie boards as well as fins on request for a small fee. Just inform us beforehand if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a guidebook or perhaps a map with the greatest locations to visit on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to check out & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Information Regarding Camping Permits
Can I go to any beach to camp?
You could go to any beach, nevertheless, you can only set up your camp in designated camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the usual procedure. We’ll supply you with a list of the ideal locations to explore and also to go camping. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or can we only go to official camping sites? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t permitted in Kauai. You should only go camping in official locations with a current camping permit. The charge is approximately $3 per night stay in the majority of Kauai county campgrounds, though private campgrounds could be a little more. One particular advantage of these campgrounds is that you will have total access to amenities, such as showers, bathrooms and picnic kitchen tables. Please note that if you decide to camp on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It’s a good idea to get your Kauai camping permits before your journey. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may get your permits online and also in person in the designated office.
If you decide to camp at a county campground and use a ground tent, you can ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Non-residents need to pay three dollars per night up-front. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are money orders and cashier’s checks. However, it is not absolutely necessary to book your camping licenses prior to your planned arrival. You can also get them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
If you decide to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to camp at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to get your permits. Permits can be obtained at the license offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are given on the spot.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
