Below are Some Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the minimum age to rent from you?
We prefer to work with customers who are actually 25 years and above because of our insurance coverage restrictions. Having said that, based upon your situation, whenever we can, we always strive to be flexible.
In case you are below 25 years, consider checking in with your insurance provider to find out if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Are you able to accommodate adults who have kids?
Of course! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb a small ladder. If this sounds like a problem, we also offer an extra tent with all of our packages which you can easily set up on the ground. This can be more comfortable for you and your children.
How many individuals can your camper vehicles fit?
We can accommodate 3 individuals maximum, although in case there are more within your group, we do offer an extra tent, as well. With this, we can easily fit as much as 5 people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Are you able to provide surfboards?
Certainly, our company offers surfboards & boogie boards and fins on request for a fee. Just let us know up-front if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a travel guide or perhaps a map with the best areas to check out on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to see & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I head to any beach front for camping?
You may drive up to any beach, but you should only put up your camp in official camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We will supply you with a list of the top locations to check out and to camp in. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or are we just able to visit official camping sites? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping is not permitted in Kauai. You should only camp in official locations with a valid camping permit. The charge is around $3 per night in many Kauai county parks, but private camp sites could be a little more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you will have total access to amenities, such as showers, washrooms & picnic tables. Please remember that if you decide to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is definitely a better to get your Kauai camping license prior to your journey. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may secure your permits on the internet and also in person in the designated office.
If you choose to stay at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you may obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Non-residents have to pay three dollars per night up-front. Payment methods accepted with this application are money orders and cashier’s checks. However, you don’t necessarily have to reserve your camping permits prior to your planned arrival. You may also get them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
Whether you choose to camp at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite some time to get your permits. Permits can be bought at the permit offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are issued on-the-spot.
