Here are Some Commonly Asked Questions
Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?
We prefer to work with clients who are actually twenty-five years and above due to our insurance policy restrictions. However, depending on your circumstances, whenever possible, we strive to be flexible.
If you are below 25 years, try contacting your insurer to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Can you accommodate adults who have children?
Indeed! Please note that using our rooftop campers you would need to climb a small ladder. If this is a concern, we offer an additional tent with each of our packages which you can set up on the ground next to the camper vehicle. This can be much more comfortable for you as well as your children.
What is the max. capacity of your camper trucks?
The roof top tent camping vehicles fit 3 people at most, although in case there are more within your party, we do provide an additional tent, too. With this, we can easily accommodate as much as five people. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Certainly, we offer surfboards and boogie boards and fins upon request for a small fee. Simply let us know up-front if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a travel guide or even a map with the greatest places to check out on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to see and go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Details About Camping Permits
Am I able to visit any beach front for camping?
You can go to any beach, however, you should only set up your camp in official camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We’ll provide you with a list of the best places to explore and to camp in. Please note that driving on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we just able to go to official camping sites? If so, how much is the cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You can only camp in specified areas with secured camping permits. The fee is about $3 per night stay in many Kauai county parks, though private camping grounds may be a little more. One particular advantage of these campgrounds is that you have total access to amenities, such as showers, washrooms & picnic kitchen tables. Please be aware that if you decide to go camping on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It’s a better to obtain your Kauai camping permits prior to your journey. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may secure your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you choose to stay at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you can obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents must pay 3 dollars per night in advance. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are cashier’s checks and also money orders. Nevertheless, you don’t necessarily have to reserve your camping licenses prior to your arrival. You could also get them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
How long does it take to get the camping permits?
No matter if you decide to go to a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to stay at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to obtain your permits. You might receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them on the spot.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
