Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
We try to work with clients who are actually twenty-five years and older because of our insurance coverage restrictions. On the other hand, based on your needs, whenever we can, we strive to be flexible.
In case you are younger than 25 years, try checking with your insurance provider to find out whether you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Are your rooftop tents family friendly?
Of course! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop campers you would need to climb a little ladder. If this is an issue, we offer an additional tent with all of our packages which you may set up on the ground. This may be more suitable for you as well as your young ones.
What is the maximum capacity of your vehicles?
We can accommodate 3 people at most, although in case there are more in your group, we do offer an additional tent, as well. With this, we can easily accommodate up to 5 people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we provide both surfboards & boogie boards and fins on request for a fee. Simply inform us in advance if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guidebook or a map with the best places to visit on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to see & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I head to any beach to camp?
You can go to any beach, nevertheless, you can only put up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the standard practice here on Kauai. We will supply you with a list of the greatest locations to visit and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or are we just able to visit designated camping grounds? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed on the island of Kauai. You should only camp in official locations with secured camping permits. The fee is approximately $3 per night in the majority of Kauai county parks, though private camp sites may be a bit more. The good thing about these campsites is that you have complete access to amenities, including showers, restrooms and picnic kitchen tables. Please be aware that if you opt to go camping on the county campsites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is a better to obtain your Kauai camping permits prior to your arrival. For the majority of private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can get your permits online and also in person in the respective office.
If you decide to stay at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you may obtain permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents need to pay three dollars per night in advance. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are money orders & cashier’s checks. But you don’t have to reserve your camping permits prior to your arrival. You can also get them at the various permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
How much time will it take to get the camping permits?
No matter if you choose to stay at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to go to a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite a while to receive your permits. Permits can be bought at the permit offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are issued on-the-spot.
