Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the minimum age to rent from you?
We try to work with customers who are actually twenty-five years and above due to our insurance coverage restrictions. Nevertheless, depending on your circumstances, whenever possible, we always try to be flexible.
In case you are below twenty-five, consider contacting your insurer to find out if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Are your roof top tents family friendly?
Absolutely! Please note that with our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb up one small ladder. If this is a concern, we also provide an extra tent with every package which you can easily set up on the ground next to your camper vehicle. This may be much more comfortable for both you and your little ones.
How many individuals can your camper vehicles fit?
Our camping trucks fit three individuals maximum, although if there are more within your party, we do provide an extra camping tent, as well. With this, we are able to fit about 5 people. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Certainly, our company offers surfboards & boogie boards and fins upon request for a small fee. Simply let us know in advance if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guidebook or even a map with the greatest hiking trails & beaches to explore on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to see and camp out on Kauai.
Ideal Locations For Camping On Kauai & Information About Camping Permits
Am I able to go to any beach for camping?
You could drive up to any beach, but you should only put up your camp in designated camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the usual practice. We’ll supply you with a list of the ideal locations to explore and to camp in. Please note that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or are we just able to visit designated camping sites? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t permitted in Kauai. You should only go camping in official areas with secured camping permits. The fee is about $3 per night stay in most Kauai county campgrounds, though private camp sites may be a little more. One advantage of these campsites is that you will have full access to amenities, like washrooms, showers & picnic tables. Please be aware that if you decide to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It’s a better to get your Kauai camping license before your trip. For most private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your licenses online and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you choose to camp at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you can obtain permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents have to pay three dollars per night up-front. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are money orders and cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, it’s not absolutely necessary to reserve your camping licenses before your arrival. You could also obtain them at the various permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
No matter if you choose to camp at a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to stay at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite a while to get your permits. You might choose to get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the designated permit offices on the island; in-person you will get them on the spot.
