Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?
We would rather like to work with clients who are actually twenty-five years and above because of our insurance policy restrictions. Nevertheless, based on your situation, whenever possible, we always try to be flexible.
If you are younger than twenty-five, consider checking in with your insurance company to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Would you be able to accommodate adults who have children?
Certainly! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb up one small ladder. If this is an issue, we also offer an extra camping tent with each of our packages which you may set up on the ground beside your camper truck. This could be more comfortable for both you and your kids.
What is the max. capacity of your trucks?
We can fit three people at most, although in case there are more in your party, we do offer an additional camping tent, too. With this, we are able to accommodate as much as five individuals. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Absolutely yes, our company offers surfboards and boogie boards and fins on request for a fee. Just let us know beforehand if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a guide book or perhaps a map with the greatest beaches and hiking trails to visit on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to see & camp out on Kauai.
Best Places For Camping Out On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I head to any beach front for camping?
You could drive up to any beach, nevertheless, you should only put up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We’ll provide you with a list of the ideal locations to visit and to camp in. Please note that driving on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or can we only go to official camping sites? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You should only go camping in official areas with a valid camping permit. The associated fee is approximately $3 per night in most Kauai county parks, but private campgrounds could be a little more. One advantage of these campgrounds is that you will have full access to amenities, like washrooms, showers & picnic dining tables. Please note that if you opt to camp on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It’s a better to obtain your Kauai camping license prior to your journey. For the majority of private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can get your licenses on the internet and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you decide to stay at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you may request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents have to pay three dollars per night in advance. Payment methods accepted with this application are money orders and cashier’s checks. But it’s not necessary to book your camping permits prior to your arrival. You could also get them at the different permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
No matter whether you decide to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to stay at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite a while to obtain your permits. Permits can be obtained at the license offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are issued right away.
