Meet the Kauai Rooftop Camper Fleet
Sixteen fully-equipped 4x4 rooftop campers — Toyota 4Runners, Tacomas, Jeep Wranglers, and FJ Cruisers — each ready to roll the moment you land. Pick the rig that fits your trip.
All 4x4. All automatic. All unlimited miles.
Our vehicle setups are designed for you to make full use of your time on Kauai — and to have everything you need. Every rig in our 16-vehicle fleet comes with the same complete camp kit: rooftop tent (most are hardshell), full camp kitchen, 56-quart cooler, beach gear, and a 3-person ground tent. The only thing that changes vehicle to vehicle is the look, the drive feel, and how much cargo room you want.

Toyota 4Runner, Tacoma, Jeep Wrangler — which fits your trip?
Every rig in our fleet is 4x4 and fully outfitted, but each platform has its own personality. Here's how to pick.
Toyota 4Runner
Most popular for couples and small families. Smooth highway ride, plenty of cargo room, comfortable for longer trips. Our most reliable platform — most of our 4Runners have 100k+ miles of trouble-free Kauai service. Pick a 4Runner if you want the simplest, most comfortable experience.
Toyota Tacoma
Best for surfers, divers, and anyone bringing extra gear. The truck bed swallows surfboards, paddleboards, dive tanks. Our Tacomas are also the most capable on rough roads — Polihale, the Sleeping Giant trailheads, the Mahaulepu beach coast. Pick a Tacoma if you're hauling toys.
Jeep Wrangler & FJ Cruiser
For travelers who want the iconic look. Open-top fun in the Wrangler, classic overland aesthetic in the FJ Cruiser. Both are pure fun on Kauai's switchback roads. Slightly louder ride than the Toyotas, but you didn't come to Kauai to be quiet. Pick one of these if the vibe matters as much as the function.

Fleet questions, answered
Are all your vehicles 4-wheel drive?
Yes. Every vehicle in our fleet — every 4Runner, Tacoma, Jeep Wrangler, and FJ Cruiser — is 4x4. You'll be glad you have it: Polihale, Waimea Canyon backroads, and most remote campsites involve unpaved driving.
How many people can each vehicle accommodate?
The rooftop tent sleeps 2 comfortably on a 3-inch memory foam mattress. We also include an extra 3-person ground tent, so you can host up to 5 people total. The vehicles themselves seat 4–5 adults depending on model.
Is there a difference in what's included between the cheaper and premium vehicles?
No. Every vehicle in our fleet — from the $169/night Wild Wahine to the $229/night 2024 4Runner TRD Pro — comes with the same complete camp kit. Higher-tier vehicles cost more for the vehicle itself (newer year, higher trim), not for added features.
How do I know which vehicle to choose?
If you're cost-conscious, go with the Wild Wahine. If you want our most-booked option, pick a 4Runner. If you're hauling surfboards or dive gear, choose a Tacoma. If you want the open-top vibe, go Jeep Wrangler. The booking widget will show real-time availability for your dates.
Are the photos on the listing pages of the actual vehicle I'll get?
Yes — every photo on every listing page is of that exact vehicle. We don't use stock images or substitutes.
